vintage McD playgrounds from memory!
gif, goodle days, tribute

grimace

Back in the old days… back when men were men and kids were kids, McDonald’s playgrounds were something special…

And yes, I know photos would be nicer than lame handmade gifs. Sorry I don’t have those. Ah well.

So begins one of the most fascinating 1.0 pages I have found in a while. Beloved McDonalds playground equipment faithfully and lovingly crafted in awesome handmade gif. The memory of their creator, Frank15, is astounding in his recollections of the classic play areas, even includes detailed and dated maps of various locations.

Amazing. (Check out these original McD playground materials and compare.)

BRING BACK < MARQUEE > AND < BLINK > TAGS plz
HTML, browsers, goodle days

so true, sorta

Back before HTML browsers got standardized (BORING) companies like IE and Netscape would introduce cool specialized tags, the most famous of which were <blink> and <marquee>. If you surrounded words in these tags they would either BLINK! orĀ SCROLL LIKE A MARQUEE across the page.

For whatever reason, scores of know-it-all HTML designers decided to hate these awesome tags, and dissuade everybody from using them. Below, one of those responsible for the downfall of the awesome html tags ever:

“Don’t Blink Don’t Marquee”
