Back before HTML browsers got standardized (BORING) companies like IE and Netscape would introduce cool specialized tags, the most famous of which were <blink> and <marquee>. If you surrounded words in these tags they would either BLINK! orĀ SCROLL LIKE A MARQUEE across the page.

For whatever reason, scores of know-it-all HTML designers decided to hate these awesome tags, and dissuade everybody from using them. Below, one of those responsible for the downfall of the awesome html tags ever:
